The United States Men’s National Team started the Copa America Centenario three weeks ago facing off with Colombia. The tournament started as a big disappointment for the United States. The fear is there that they’ll end with that same disappointment in this third place match. The Colombians are the slight favorites so far in this one. The fixture between the United States and Colombia is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. ET at University of Phoenix Stadium. This matchup will be broadcast on FX.
Colombia has headed in the wrong direction ever since its opening win against the Americans. Los Cafeteros did good in their second match against Paraguay. Since then they were beaten by Costa Rica with half of a side on the pitch. They were also pushed to penalties in a scoreless draw by Peru. The Colombians were blitzed in the opening 15 minutes against Chile falling behind 2-0. They never recovered against Chile to find the back of the net.
The USMNT looked to be headed in the right direction before losing to Argentina 4-0 in the semifinal. The United States did win over teams like Costa Rica, Paraguay and Ecuador but that doesn’t seem so impressive right now. The question for this fixture is what is the Lineup selection for both of these teams? For the Americans, will we see Christian Pulisic and Darlington Nagbe in the lineup. If Jurgen Klinsmann uses the senior squad, they already proved it couldn’t play with Colombia. Best Sports Site Blog thinks if the young lineup is on the field for the Americans, it can get the job done and win this match. If both teams go with similar lineups that met up in the opener three weeks ago, Colombia should win.
