New England Patriots at Denver Broncos – AFC Championship Game

Patriots-BroncosNew England Patriots travel to Denver Broncos for AFC Championship game

The New England Patriots advanced to their fifth straight AFC championship game. This will be the second time the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos will meet this season. The AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos will be played on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at 3:05 p.m. ET at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The matchup will be televised on CBS.

The Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been struggling this year with just nine touchdown passes against 17 interceptions as he plays through a foot injury. He is completing just 59.8 percent of his throws and showing little arm strength. The Patriots can keep everything in front of them knowing that Manning can’t throw the ball 40 yards down the field like the good old days. The Broncos have the best defense in the NFL and that could be an issue for the undersized New England receivers who tend to have trouble getting off of the line of scrimmage. The Broncos running backs are good and Anderson rushed 15 times for 72 yards and Hillman 16 times for 38 yards last Sunday. Anderson had a huge day in the first Patriots-Broncos matchup , rushing 15 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

The New England Patriots traveled to Denver on Nov. 29 this season and lost, 30-24 in overtime in a Sunday Night Football game. The Patriots quarterback Tom Brady needs to get the ball out of his hands quickly for the AFC Championship game. If he’s forced to stand in the pocket for more than two seconds, outside linebacker Demarcus Ware and his mates are sure to be right on his back. Sebastian Vollmer might be back, but the offensive line is still awfully patchwork at the moment. Without even trying the ground game, New England is going to be reliant on its passing attack  to win this one. Now that wide receivers Edelman and Amendola are back, and Gronk is back, the Patriots will likely try to spread out the defense with four and five wide, and also use the quick pass for the run game to neutralize the Broncos’ pass rush.

New England Patriots at New York Jets, Week 16

Patriots_JetsNew York Jets need upset over New England Patriots to keep playoff hopes alive

The New England Patriots (12-2) have already clinched a first-round bye and they need a win to clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. The New York Jets (9-5) need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. The matchup between the New England Patriots and New York Jets is scheduled to take place Sunday, December 27, 2015, at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium. The game will be broadcast on CBS.

The New England Patriots continue to produce, even with their beat up roster. As long as the Patriots have Tom Brady as quarterback, you can’t count them out of any game. He will be limited once again in the passing game with wide receiver Danny Amendola out with a left knee injury. The Patriots figure to be without receivers Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola. Tight end Rob Gronkowski might be limited after showing signs that his right knee was still an issue last Sunday. Also, Steven Jackson will be slowly integrated after signing with the team this week. But in the end, we’ll ride with Tom Brady.

The New York Jets have won their last four games. They are surging for a wild card spot behind their efficient quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and an elite defensive line led by defensive end Mo Wilkerson. The Jets learned some important lessons from their 30-23 loss in New England when the two teams last met in Week 7. It will be close as the last five meetings have been decided by seven points or fewer. The Jets have been playing very well, and they won’t go down without a fight. With an offense of New England’s caliber, New York may have trouble keeping up.  Look for the Jets to pull off an upset and stay alive for another week.

New England Patriots at Houston Texans, Week 14

Tom Brady vs Texans

Patriots Vs. Texans: New England Road Favorites, But Barely

The Houston Texans remain a game back of the pack in the AFC Wild Card race, trailing a trio of clubs with 7-5 records. The Texans will need to end their current three-game  losing streak against New England to remain in the thick of the playoff hunt. The New England Patriots will try to end a two-game losing streak that spoiled their bid for a perfect season when they battle the Houston Texans as a slim 3-point road favorite. The game between the New England Patriots and Houston Texans is scheduled for Sunday, December 13, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. ET at NRG Stadium. The matchup will be broadcast on NBC.

The struggling New England Patriots offense has seemingly fallen apart under the weight of a ton of injuries. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady can do a lot of great things but he is without the major talented players that make their offense so great. They don’t have Rob Gronkowski and probably won’t again this week. They don’t have Julian Edelman and won’t for the rest of the season. Brandon LaFell didn’t have a training camp this year and won’t get those reps back. Danny Amendola is still visibly aching, if not fighting through a legitimate injury. The wide receivers will have to deal with J.J. Watt, the biggest freak of nature on the defensive side of the ball in the NFL. Watt has put up numbers which are every bit as good as last year. It looks like if New England is going to win this game, it’s going to have to do so on the defensive side of the ball.

The Houston Texans have come on strong buoyed by a four-game winning streak which ended last week in Buffalo. The 30 points surrendered to Buffalo marks the most that Houston has allowed in five games, as the Texans defense held opponents to just six points in three of their four recent wins, and a mere 8.75 points per game during that stretch. Houston has also played well at home, going 4-1 S in its last five, winning by double-digit margins in each of those victories. The Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is putting up major numbers, making circus catches each week, and has done so with a quarterback trio of Ryan Mallet, T.J. Yates, and Brian Hoyer throwing him the passes. Hopkins is third in the league in receiving yards, third in receiving touchdowns, and fourth in receptions.

Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots, Week 13

Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots

Eagles Face Rough Test Against 10-1 New England Patriots

The New England Patriots were beaten for the first time this season last week by the Broncos in Denver. The Patriots will start the week with a four-game lead on the New York Jets and are well on their way to clinching the division soon. The last time the Eagles won against the Patriots was 1999, and their last win at New England was back in 1987. The game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots is scheduled for Sunday, December 6, 2015, at 4:25 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium. The matchup will be televised on FOX.

The Patriots lost one of their most valuable players with tight end Rob Gronkowski down for the count for at least a week or two with a knee injury. Scott Chandler is the newest man who is going to be asked to step in for the Gronk. Wide receiver and kickoff returner Danny Amendola could be back from his knee injury. We are going to see if Tom Brady can continue to do his magic with just the practice squad guys around him. The New England defense is the big reason the Patriots made it to 10-0. Not having linebacker Jamie Collins in the line up last week hurt the Patriots defense. The Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler was able to stand in the pocket and throw the ball down the field from behind, something the Eagles quarterback Bradford won’t likely be able to do.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford is coming back from his shoulder injury, and not a moment too soon for the Eagles. The Eagles has had a rough time lately, with tight end Zach Ertz and running backs, Ryan Mathews and Josh Huff out with injuries. Also, Bradford has had a tough time this year against teams with winning records. He was picked off twice against the Falcons and once against Carolina, and he averaged just 4.5 yards per pass attempt against Carolina. Bradford might have generated a win against the Jets, but he threw for just 118 yards, completed 50 percent of his passes and averaged 4.2 yards per pass attempt.

New England Patriots at New York Giants, Week 10

New+York+Giants+v+New+England+PatriotsNew York Giants Offense Is Carrying Team

The New England Patriots will travel to face the New York Giants for the 12th time since their series was inaugurated in 1970, with the Patriots claiming a 5-4 edge in regular-season play. The 5-4 New York Giants will be a 7 point underdog in the opening line. The matchup between the New England Patriots and New York Giants is scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2015, at 4:25 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium. The game will be broadcast on CBS.

The 8-0 New England Patriots knows how to win close games, and they have been able to grind out wins against the Steelers, Jets and Colts this season as well. Patriot’s quarterback Tom Brady this year already has 2,709 passing yards and is on pace to break his own mark of 5,235 passing yards at age 38. Tight end Rob Gronkowski will be a tough match-up for the Giants. The Giants’ Middle linebackers Uani ‘Unga and Jasper Brinkley are not fast enough to keep up with Gronkowski. Also, there is a concern that Giant’s safety Landon Collins has the ability to provide adequate pass coverage and  provide back end support against Gronkowski. The New England offense do have some problems though. They are using a tight end at right tackle due to the lack of healthy offensive lineman, and running back Dion Lewis is very likely out for a long period of time after suffering a nasty ankle injury last week.

The New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is on pace for one of the best years of his career. Manning nailed two touchdown strikes and receiver Odell Beckham Jr. recorded his fourth 100-plus yard game of the season in New York’s 32-18 victory over Tampa Bay in Week 9. Beckham is now fourth with 759 yards, and he’s tied for second with seven touchdown catches. Manning improved to third in the league with 2,339 yards 20 touchdowns on the year. There could be problems if Manning starts getting too many turnovers, as he got picked off two times last week against Tampa Bay.  The Giants don’t have a good secondary, but they do seem to have the answers for the short passing game. The Giants have allowed 2,772 passing yards and 17 touchdowns in the air this season, but have also forced an NFL best 13 interceptions.

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots, Week 8

Dolphins hammer Houston, now face undefeated Patriots

The surging Dolphins under interim coach Dan Campbell will get their first real test when they visit undefeated New England in an AFC East confrontation on Thursday Night Football. The re-charged Dolphins are now 3-3 and have won back-to-back games. They’ll next face the undefeated Patriots team that has ruled the AFC East for about a dozen years. The game between the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 8:25 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium. The matchup will be broadcasted on CBS and the NFL Network.

The New England Patriots came from behind to beat the Jets on Sunday for their 47th victory in their last 51 home games. The Patriots ignored the ground game Sunday, as Tom Brady was the team’s leading rusher with 15 yards.. Brady threw for 355 yards, his 68th 300-yard game, and has thrown at least two touchdown passes in all six games this season.  He engineered two fourth quarter scoring drives to pull out the win over New York last Sunday with tight end Rob Gronkowski catching 11 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown.

The Miami Dolphins have had quite the turnaround under Campbell with a pair of dominant performances against Tennessee and Houston. The Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has transformed since the coaching change and so has the Dolphins defense. The Dolphins will get a true test this Thursday night to see just how much of an impact Campbell has made. The Dolphins will need to keep up the strong play against the unbeaten Patriots.  Tom Brady looks unstoppable and the Patriots are awful tough at home. The Dolphins will need to keep the game close and try not to have any turnovers in order to have a chance for a win.

New York Jets at New England Patriots, Week 7

Patriots Face Jets For AFC East Supremacy

The undefeated New England Patriots look to remain undefeated hosting the New York Jets this Sunday afternoon. The New England Patriots haven’t lost a game at home in the month of October since back in 2005. The Patriots will try to extend that streak this Sunday hosting the New York Jets at Foxborough. The match-up between the New York Jets and New England Patriots is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2015, at 1 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on CBS.

The New York Jets are off to an excellent start to the 2015 season with a 4-1 record. Behind running back Chris Ivory, the Jets have the league’s best rushing offense. Ivory had 146 of the Jets 221 ground yards in last weeks win over Washington. He’s been dominant in the last two games rushing for 312 combined yards. The Jets will face a New England defense that may have some issues in stopping the run. The Patriots rank 22nd against the run and are giving up 114.2 yards per game. The Jets could get a talented  running back Stevan Ridley back in their line-up who had a torn ligament in his left knee since last year.  There is a chance that Ridley will make it in time for the game on Sunday. All four of the Jets wins have come against teams that are at or below .500 on the season. If the Jets defense slows down the Patriots and New York does enough offensively they could come away with an upset win.

The New England Patriots are off to its first 5-0 start since an undefeated regular season in 2007. They also had an overwhelming advantage in their series with the Jets recently. New England has won seven of the last eight against New York and Tom Brady is 21-7 in the series, including playoffs. The past four match-ups have been decided by three or fewer points. The Patriots have scored at least 28 points in each game this season and average 325.2 in passing yards. This season New England hasn’t faced a pass defense ranked higher than 17th. The Jets are No. 2 and lead the NFL in fewest points and total defense.

Tom Brady could shine as New England Patriots seek revenge on Indianapolis Colts

The Patriots are expected to take the Colts to task. They’ll likely be going by air, instead of by land. The New England Patriots have beaten their last two teams by an aggregate score of 81-23. New England is 4-0 with the best point differential in the AFC, the Colts have managed to tread water at 3-2, narrowly escaping against three AFC South opponents. The battle between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Field. The game will be broadcasted on NBC.

The  Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has been using the past two weeks to recover from his shoulder injury and, it’s possible he could be back at full strength against the Patriots. Regardless of how the Pats have dominated the Colts in four meetings over the past three seasons, a full-strength Luck gives Indianapolis a game-changer who could threaten New England’s perfect record. However if there is even the slightest bit wrong with that throwing shoulder, he can expect the Patriots to take advantage of it. Luck hasn’t done well against New England in his career. His worst moment was when he walked out of Gillette Stadium last year in the AFC Championship Game having led the offense to one score with two picks and barely 200 total yards of offense.

The New England Patriots are on a roll this season at 4-0. Quarterback Tom Brady has put up 1,387 yards and 11 TDs without a pick. The offensive numbers the Patriots have put up on the Colts since 2009 are truly impressive. Over the course of seven games, New England has averaged 40.7 points per game and 422 yards per game against the Indianapolis defense. The Patriots have done great against the colts on the ground. Last year New England rushed for seven touchdowns, including using Jonas Gray for four scores in the primetime game these two played in the regular season. Whether that means LeGarrette Blount or Dion Lewis or who else ultimately runs for 100 yards or not is to be seen. The Patriots have had someone rush for at least 148 yards in three straight games against Indy.

New England Patriots host the Jacksonville Jaguars

Can the Jacksonville Jaguars keep up with Patriots’ offense?

The Patriots are on a roll after crushing the Bills last week and are two touchdown favorites over the Jaguars this weekend. The Patriots have beat the Jaguars 9 of 10 times and haven’t lost to them since 1999. The New England Patriots will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at 1 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on CBS.

Despite the passing game of the Patriots not being perfect last week against the Bills, the offense still put up huge numbers against a good defense. Brady completed 38 of 59 passes for 466 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions against Buffalo last week. Julian Edelman caught 11 passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Rob Gronkowski caught 6 passes for 113 yards. Dion Lewis caught 6 passes for 98 yards and Aaron Dobson had 7 receptions for 87 yards. The Patriots passing game is diverse and it is hard to stop it with so many good receivers.

The Patriots defense does have some holes, but there just aren’t enough for the Jaguars to take advantage of. The Jacksonville Jaguars is in a rebuild mode and coach Gus Bradley is doing a good job but it will take time to play up to the Patriots level. The Jaguars are coming off one of their better efforts in recent seasons beating the Miami Dolphins 23-20 last week. Jacksonville scored in the first 6 minutes of the game and never trailed after that. They scored the game winning field goal during the last 2 minutes of the game. The Jaguars rushed for 123 yard with zero turnovers.

Super Bowl XXXVIII – Patriots vs Panthers

Patriots Advanced to Their Second Super Bowl in Three Seasons

Tom Brady Named Super Bowl MVP for Second Time in Three Years.

The Patriots had won 14 games in a row leading up to Super Bowl XXXVIII against the Carolina Panthers in Houston. The Patriots did it despite numerous injuries that resulted in a league high 87 games missed by their starters.

New England’s defensive dominance is what helped them get this far. In their previous seven games at Gillette Stadium, the Patriots had given up just three touchdowns. In Houston, the game was still scoreless late in the second quarter, which was the longest any Super Bowl had gone with no points. The Panthers had -7 yards total offense and quarterback Jake Delhomme was 1 for 9 in passing for just one yard.

The Patriots should have had the lead but the field goal kicker Adam Vinatieri missed a 31 yard field goal and had a 36 yard attempt blocked. Those missed scoring opportunities seemed large as the clock wound down toward halftime. After both teams struggled to move the ball for 25 minutes, the game changed to where both offenses took over.

Brady had the Patriots on top at halftime 14-10 by scoring a pair of 5 yard touchdown passes to Deion Branch and David Givens. The 24 points were scored during the last 3:05 of the first half. After a scoreless third quarter, the Patriots and Panthers combined to score 37 points in the fourth quarter, a Super Bowl record for the most total scoring in the final period.

With just seconds left and the score tied at 29 a piece, Patriot’s kicker Vinatieri, lined up to attempt a 41 yard field goal. He hit the field goal with four seconds left in the game. The Patriots won 32-29. The last second drama would not have been possible without the efforts of Brady. He passed for 354 yards and three touchdowns and was named Super Bowl MVP for the second time in three years.
