New England Patriots at New York Giants, Week 10

New+York+Giants+v+New+England+PatriotsNew York Giants Offense Is Carrying Team

The New England Patriots will travel to face the New York Giants for the 12th time since their series was inaugurated in 1970, with the Patriots claiming a 5-4 edge in regular-season play. The 5-4 New York Giants will be a 7 point underdog in the opening line. The matchup between the New England Patriots and New York Giants is scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2015, at 4:25 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium. The game will be broadcast on CBS.

The 8-0 New England Patriots knows how to win close games, and they have been able to grind out wins against the Steelers, Jets and Colts this season as well. Patriot’s quarterback Tom Brady this year already has 2,709 passing yards and is on pace to break his own mark of 5,235 passing yards at age 38. Tight end Rob Gronkowski will be a tough match-up for the Giants. The Giants’ Middle linebackers Uani ‘Unga and Jasper Brinkley are not fast enough to keep up with Gronkowski. Also, there is a concern that Giant’s safety Landon Collins has the ability to provide adequate pass coverage and  provide back end support against Gronkowski. The New England offense do have some problems though. They are using a tight end at right tackle due to the lack of healthy offensive lineman, and running back Dion Lewis is very likely out for a long period of time after suffering a nasty ankle injury last week.

The New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is on pace for one of the best years of his career. Manning nailed two touchdown strikes and receiver Odell Beckham Jr. recorded his fourth 100-plus yard game of the season in New York’s 32-18 victory over Tampa Bay in Week 9. Beckham is now fourth with 759 yards, and he’s tied for second with seven touchdown catches. Manning improved to third in the league with 2,339 yards 20 touchdowns on the year. There could be problems if Manning starts getting too many turnovers, as he got picked off two times last week against Tampa Bay.  The Giants don’t have a good secondary, but they do seem to have the answers for the short passing game. The Giants have allowed 2,772 passing yards and 17 touchdowns in the air this season, but have also forced an NFL best 13 interceptions.

Philadelphia Eagles a tough read against New York Giants on MNF

The Philadelphia Eagles have a 2-3 start to their season and are trying to get to .500. The New York Giants have a 3-2 start to their season and are looking for their fourth straight win, after their 0-2 start. The matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford has played much better the past two weeks against Washington and New Orleans than he had in the first three games of the season. On Monday night he will face  a Giants secondary that ranks last in the league in pass defense. Eagles running back DeMarco Murray has really started to perform lately.  Last week he had 120 total yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. Running backs DeMarco Murray and Darren Sproles  are the second and third leading receivers for the Eagles this season. So Bradford will throw to his backs. The Eagles will try to get their backs in mismatches against the Giants’ linebackers. The Eagles defense are having trouble getting off the field on third downs. Their opponents offense are converting 12 out of 23 on third down and five or more yards to go which is an astoundingly high number. Last week the defensive team gave up seven plays of at least 20 yards, five of which came on third and long situations.

The New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is starting to play his best regular season football of his career. He has 10 touchdowns and just two interceptions through the first five games. Manning will have plenty of opportunities against the Eagles on the outside in the intermediate and deep areas of the field and will have to trust his outside receivers to make the plays. This will be a lot easier if both Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle can get healthy in time for the game.  We’re really not sure how healthy or not Odell Beckham Jr. is at this time. He isn’t on the injury list to start the week, but he was clearly hobbling around at the end of last week’s game against San Francisco and was merely used as a decoy more than anything else for the final drive. Wide receivers Rueben Randle and Victor Cruz are both still hurt, so if Beckham is limited, the Giants may have a real problem on their hands without the running game to balance the attack.

San Francisco 49ers face New York Giants at MetLife Stadium

San Francisco 49ers are struggling a quarter of the way through the season.

The San Francisco 49ers (1-3)  take to the road  in Week 5 as they face the New York Giants (2-2). The game between the the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on NBC.

The San Francisco 49ers is on a three game losing streak and have a lackluster offense that continues to be a problem for head coach Jim Tomsula. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been under scrutiny following his last three problematic performances. He needs to have a strong game to convince the media that he is much better than he has played so far this season. The 49ers, with Kaepernick and running back Carlos Hyde want to run it. Kaepernick is off to a dreadful start as a passer with two touchdowns and five interceptions. Kaepernick led the 49ers in rushing with 57 yards in last week’s 17-3 loss to the Packers. Hyde was limited to just 20 yards. The 49ers defense has been good and will look for a strong performance like they had against the Packers a week ago. The 49ers have a chance to prove to the NFL world they are better than the team seen over the previous three weeks.

The New York Giants are coming off of a great win against the Buffalo Bills. Eli Manning was one of the three quarterbacks coming into Week 4 without an interception until the fourth quarter last week. The Giants have seven touchdown passes and just two rushing touchdowns so far. That’s why wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is going to be one of Eli Manning’s favorite to score the first touchdown on Sunday night. Giants running backs Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams have one rushing touchdown each this season. Andre Williams seems to be the more explosive back capable of making big time plays.  The Giants defense is ranked Number 1 against the run with a league low of 69.8 yards per game allowed.  The Giants have the worst pass defense in the NFL at 316.2 yards per game allowed. They have given up over 350 passing yards two times this season. It doesn’t look like the Giants have a corner who can match up with the size and strength of wide receiver Anquan Boldin if the 49ers get in the red zone.
