Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys – NFL Divisional Playoffs

Dallas Cowboys v Green Bay PackersDallas Cowboys will host Green Bay Packers in NFL Divisional Playoff

The Green Bay Packers are the hottest team in the NFL and are coming off of a convincing home win that saw them beat the New York Giants, 38-13 at Lambeau Field.  The Packers are red hot right now, and are assuredly a different team than the Cowboys faced in Week 6. It would be hard to bet against quarterback Aaron Rodgers and what he’s done to carry the Packers to the postseason. The Dallas Cowboys will be entering the game fresh off a first-round bye.  The Dallas Cowboys will be led by rookie quarterback Dak Prescott.  He’s only started 16 games in his NFL career, and won 13 of them.  The Divisional Round playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at 4:40 p.m. ET at ATT Stadium.

The Green Bay Packers are a hot team and opened the playoffs with their seventh consecutive win while going 6-1 ATS during that span. The Packer defense will face a much tougher offense than what it played against in the Wild Card game, and that will put more pressure on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In the Wildcard game against New York, the Packers did nothing offensively and ended their first five drives with four first downs and five punts. The Green Bay Packers will need to get a better start against Dallas or the game could be over quickly. The Packers stayed close against the Giants by playing great defense of their own. They allowed nearly 200 yards in the first half, but limited New York to just two field goals. That was enough time to give the Packers offense to get in gear.

The Dallas Cowboys are a more balanced club and gave the Packers fits when they met in Week 6. Rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott is well rested and behind that offensive line, he should have little problem duplicating his 157-yard effort. Elliott and Dak Prescott haven’t experienced playoff football and that could be a concern. However, they led the Dallas Cowboys to the best record in the NFC. The two played like poised veterans and will run the ball behind the best line in football.  Also Prescott will take his shots against a beat up secondary. Rodgers will keep the Packers in this one, but in the end there will be too much Elliott for the Pack to contend with. We expect this one to be closer and give a slight edge to the Cowboys.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers, Week 17

Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers – NFC North Championship Game

The 10-5 Minnesota Vikings clinched a spot in the playoffs after their 49-17 win over the Giants Sunday night. They now have their sights set on beating their division rivals in Green Bay to top the NFC North division and secure home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The 10 -5 Green Bay Packers have faltered a second time with a 38-8 loss to the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday. The stakes for both teams remain high.  If you win you have won your division. If you lose,  you go on the road perhaps in just six days. The game between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers is scheduled to take place Sunday, January 3, 2016, at 8:25 p.m. ET at Lambeau Field. The game will be broadcast on NBC.

The Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has averaged 244.7 passing yards per game and has thrown six touchdowns over the last three games. Bridgewater is ranked No. 5 in the NFL with a 102.7 passer rating in December over the past two seasons. Bridgewater will be on the road in the biggest game of his career which isn’t the ideal situation to make the throws necessary to beat the Packers. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson leads the NFL with 1,418 rushing yards this season. Peterson recorded his seventh 100-plus-yard rushing game of the season Sunday against the Giants. Also, the Vikings defense are healthy now and are at full strength after missing linebacker Anthony Barr, nose tackle Linval Joseph and safety Harrison Smith for two games in December.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is coming off a loss to Arizona in which he was sacked eight times. This December, Rodgers has averaged 211.5 yards per game and has recorded six passing touchdowns and three interceptions. Aaron Rodgers is likely the best deep ball thrower in the league, however there is no aerial threat up the seam or down the sidelines like when Jordy Nelson is healthy. Nelson is out for the season with a knee injury. The Packers receiver threats are Randall Cobb and James Jones, who have 792 and 788 total yards, respectively. The Packers running back Eddie Lacy is No. 18 in the NFL for rushing yards, and he recorded 100 yards against Minnesota on Nov. 22.  However, in his last two games Lacy had a total of just 83 yards on 23 carries. The Cardinals sacked quarterback Aaron Rodgers nine times last week, and if that type of pressure is going to get to him on Sunday, Green Bay will have a tough time scoring.

Green Bay Packers at Carolina Panthers, Week 9

Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers fight for first place in NFC

The unbeaten Carolina Panthers are proving to be a resilient bunch, where time and time again this season they have overcome mistakes and found ways to win. That was never more evident than Monday night when four players made mistakes only to help the Panthers later in the game beat the Indianapolis Colts 29-26 in overtime to keep their perfect season alive. Green Bay was dealt its first loss of the season and dropped from the NFL’s undefeated ranks when Aaron Rodgers had one of his worst games against Denver last week. The matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Carolina Panthers is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. ET at Bank of America Stadium. The game will be televised on FOX.

The Carolina Panthers offense continues to do just enough on each game to get the job done. Cam Newton is the unquestioned star of the Panthers offense, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get 400-yard passing games with barrels of touchdown passes. His reputation for wildly athletic scrambles from the pocket and big, downfield throws after escaping pressure are well-earned and still a serious threat. Containing Newton in the pocket and not allowing him to run wild for big gains on pass plays is an obvious key for n defense, and will be no different for the Packers. The Carolina defense has been very consistent. Panthers cornerback Josh Norman is a difference maker on the outside and their pass rush has been good. They have some very talented linebackers who have incredible name recognition and the back end has been very consistent. Those guys have been playing really well, making plays on the ball, creating turnovers, tackling well so they are all playing really well together.

Last week the Green Bay packers was dealt its first loss of the season. Denver held Rodgers to 77 passing yards and no touchdowns in the 29-10 loss. Facing the league’s best defense, the former MVP came up with the third-worst passing yardage total of his career and failed to throw a touchdown for just the 10 th time in 110 starts. However, Rodgers has traditionally done well against Carolina. In the last three games he’s completed 69 percent of his passes for 861 yards and eight touchdowns to one interception for a 119.8 passer rating and two victories. Last year Rodgers threw three touchdowns in a 38-17 home rout of Carolina. Green Bay’s defense has trouble stopping the run throughout this season, and Carolina could exploit the weakness and keep Rodgers off the field for long stretches. The Packers are tied for No. 25 in the NFL with 124.4 rushing yards allowed per game, and opposing rushers are gaining 4.7 yards per carry.

Broncos host Packers in Undefeated Matchup

Green+Bay+Packers+v+Denver+BroncosPeyton Manning a home underdog on Sunday Night Football

The Green Bay Packers take on the Denver Broncos in an NFL showdown between undefeated teams. The Denver Broncos will be home team underdogs for just the second time since Peyton Manning arrived in Denver. The matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos is scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. ET at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The game will be broadcasted on NBC.

The Green Bay Packers offense has continued to be explosive despite losing wide receiver Jordy Nelson before the season. Green Bay has benefited from bringing back James Jones who Aaron Rodgers has gone to often early in the season.  The Packers offense seems to be vulnerable to the pass rush. They are ranked 22nd in passing attack which is largely due to a slew of injuries at wide receiver and a collapsing pocket around Rodgers. Rodgers is going to get his yards and put the Packers into a position to score. In the past with major games on the road, he had trouble finishing the drives.

Denver has relied on their defense which has played like the best defense in the country. The Broncos are stopping teams and their defense is scoring touchdowns off turnovers.  Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is going to be locked up with Randall Cobb wherever he goes. That’s going to leave Chris Harris out there to do his thing against either a rookie in Ty Montgomery or a vet in James Jones who isn’t nearly as speedy as he used to be. Either way, this is a decided advantage for Denver, even with Aaron Rodgers throwing the football. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has thrown 10 interceptions compared to seven touchdowns causing many to wonder if Manning is going to continue to struggle after their bye.

Green Bay Packers host St. Louis Rams at Lambeau Field

Packers-Rams

Packers one of six remaining unbeaten teams in NFL

After pulling one of the biggest upsets of the season last week against the Arizona Cardinals, the St. Louis Rams are trying to take care of business by going on the road to the Frozen Tundra against the unbeaten Packers. The Packers are 4-0 for the first time since they started the 2011 season at 13-0. The game between the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Rams is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. ET at Lambeau Field. The game will be broadcast on FOX.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers has been outstanding so far. He has thrown for 995 yards with 11 TDs and no interceptions for his first four games.  He is doing this great work without wide receiver Jordy Nelson and wide receiver Randall Cobb still has a banged up arm. The Packers also has a good ground game to provide them a good offensive balance with Eddie Lacy and James Starks as a suitable replacement. One weakness may be the offensive line. Rodgers has to scramble quite often to get himself out of trouble. Last week against the 49ers, Rogers didn’t look quite as sharp as the previous games he played.

The St. Louis Rams rookie running back Todd Gurley didn’t do much for three quarters against Arizona last week, but he broke loose for over 100 yards in the fourth quarter. If Gurley has another good day there will less pressure for quarterback Nick Foles to work the ball down the field. This would also balance the attack so wide receivers like Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin could start making big time plays. Last week’s win over Arizona marked the third time in its last 12 games which the Rams have pulled off an upset as a seven-point underdog or greater. Beating the Packers  at home is almost impossible to do. The Packers are 7-1  in their last eight games overall, including 11 straight wins at Lambeau Field overall.

Green Bay Packers host the Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks-Packers

Green Bay Packers Grudge Match Against the Seattle Seahawks

Two of the top teams in the NFC clash Sunday when the Green Bay Packers host the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have walked away with a  3-0 record in their past three games against Green Bay, including the NFC Championship Game last year. Rodgers and company face a tougher defense this Sunday, but they do get to take on the Seahawks at home. The Packers are 9-0 in their last nine games at home. The game between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks is set for Sunday, September 20, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. ET at Lambeau Field. The game will be broadcasted on NBC.

The Green Bay offense and looks like the real deal. James Jones was the replacement for Jordy Nelson, and Randall Cobb looked just fine on the outside in spite of some injury woes coming into the year. Eddie Lacy wasn’t quite as explosive looking as we remember him, but he should do well.

The Seattle defense is supposed to be an aggressive defense which forces a lot of turnovers.  Last week, Nick Foles of the Rams was awesome against this unit in his first game. Also, not having Kam Chancellor will be a the big loss. Chancellor is still holding out in search of a new contract, and he won’t be playing this week either.

The Seahawks are going to put the ball in the hands of Marshawn Lynch. The quarterback Russell Wilson should run his offense as good as he always does. This offense put up 343 yards against the Rams last week. If this is a similar game for the offense, there’s  a good chance that Seattle will win. The key is going to be staying out of third down and long situations for Wilson. He only averaged 6.1 yards per pass attempt, but he went 32-of-41 against St. Louis. That’ll be good enough to keep the chains moving and keep the Green Bay offense off the field, which is going to key for Seattle to win this one.
