New York Jets at New England Patriots, Week 7

Patriots Face Jets For AFC East Supremacy

The undefeated New England Patriots look to remain undefeated hosting the New York Jets this Sunday afternoon. The New England Patriots haven’t lost a game at home in the month of October since back in 2005. The Patriots will try to extend that streak this Sunday hosting the New York Jets at Foxborough. The match-up between the New York Jets and New England Patriots is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2015, at 1 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on CBS.

The New York Jets are off to an excellent start to the 2015 season with a 4-1 record. Behind running back Chris Ivory, the Jets have the league’s best rushing offense. Ivory had 146 of the Jets 221 ground yards in last weeks win over Washington. He’s been dominant in the last two games rushing for 312 combined yards. The Jets will face a New England defense that may have some issues in stopping the run. The Patriots rank 22nd against the run and are giving up 114.2 yards per game. The Jets could get a talented  running back Stevan Ridley back in their line-up who had a torn ligament in his left knee since last year.  There is a chance that Ridley will make it in time for the game on Sunday. All four of the Jets wins have come against teams that are at or below .500 on the season. If the Jets defense slows down the Patriots and New York does enough offensively they could come away with an upset win.

The New England Patriots are off to its first 5-0 start since an undefeated regular season in 2007. They also had an overwhelming advantage in their series with the Jets recently. New England has won seven of the last eight against New York and Tom Brady is 21-7 in the series, including playoffs. The past four match-ups have been decided by three or fewer points. The Patriots have scored at least 28 points in each game this season and average 325.2 in passing yards. This season New England hasn’t faced a pass defense ranked higher than 17th. The Jets are No. 2 and lead the NFL in fewest points and total defense.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs, Week 7

Kansas City Chiefs-vs-Pittsburgh SteelersPittsburgh Steelers are preparing for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs with third-stringer Landry Jones

The Kansas City Chiefs will get a chance to resurrect their season and end a five game losing streak when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are down to third string quarterback Landry Jones. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs football game is on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at 1 p.m. ET at Arrowhead Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on CBS.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are undecided on who will be quarterback for the game against the Kansas Chiefs. Michael Vick left last week’s game with a strained right hamstring and didn’t return. He was replaced by Landry Jones, who played well against the Cardinals. With Vick hampered and Ben Roethlisberger’s status uncertain for this week, the Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing with Jones as their starting quarterback. Pittsburgh’s defense has stepped up so far. The defense will give up yards but not points. The Steelers defense ranks 23rd in net yards allowed, but is ranked fifth in scoring because of the multiple turnovers they have forced.  The Steelers are willing to bend a little. The offense is wounded right now with the quarterback position in flux. But the defense has produced despite injuries to two starters, linebacker Ryan Shazier and safety Will Allen.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a chance to win their last game in the fourth quarter twice but failed to do so. It was the sixth time since Smith joined the Chiefs that they needed a late fourth quarter touchdown to win a game and it has never happened.  The Chiefs have led into the fourth quarter in nearly all of their wins with Smith as their quarterback. The Chief’s problems aren’t all Smith’s fault. The Chiefs are missing running back Jamaal Charles out with a knee injury. West and Knile Davis didn’t help out the Chiefs ground game last week, combining for 46 yards on 14 carries. Smith will likely be without his top receiver Jeremy Maclin, who is out with a concussion from the game last week. The Chiefs might have a chance against a third string quarterback, but Jones is quite familiar with the offense and played well in relief of Vick last week.

New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles, Week 6

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning throws an incomplete pass on a fourth down play as he is pressured by Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Trent Cole (58) and defensive end Darren Howard during the fourth quarter of an NFL football game Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Philadelphia Eagles a tough read against New York Giants on MNF

The Philadelphia Eagles have a 2-3 start to their season and are trying to get to .500. The New York Giants have a 3-2 start to their season and are looking for their fourth straight win, after their 0-2 start. The matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford has played much better the past two weeks against Washington and New Orleans than he had in the first three games of the season. On Monday night he will face  a Giants secondary that ranks last in the league in pass defense. Eagles running back DeMarco Murray has really started to perform lately.  Last week he had 120 total yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. Running backs DeMarco Murray and Darren Sproles  are the second and third leading receivers for the Eagles this season. So Bradford will throw to his backs. The Eagles will try to get their backs in mismatches against the Giants’ linebackers. The Eagles defense are having trouble getting off the field on third downs. Their opponents offense are converting 12 out of 23 on third down and five or more yards to go which is an astoundingly high number. Last week the defensive team gave up seven plays of at least 20 yards, five of which came on third and long situations.

The New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is starting to play his best regular season football of his career. He has 10 touchdowns and just two interceptions through the first five games. Manning will have plenty of opportunities against the Eagles on the outside in the intermediate and deep areas of the field and will have to trust his outside receivers to make the plays. This will be a lot easier if both Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle can get healthy in time for the game.  We’re really not sure how healthy or not Odell Beckham Jr. is at this time. He isn’t on the injury list to start the week, but he was clearly hobbling around at the end of last week’s game against San Francisco and was merely used as a decoy more than anything else for the final drive. Wide receivers Rueben Randle and Victor Cruz are both still hurt, so if Beckham is limited, the Giants may have a real problem on their hands without the running game to balance the attack.

New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts in Week 6

Tom Brady could shine as New England Patriots seek revenge on Indianapolis Colts

The Patriots are expected to take the Colts to task. They’ll likely be going by air, instead of by land. The New England Patriots have beaten their last two teams by an aggregate score of 81-23. New England is 4-0 with the best point differential in the AFC, the Colts have managed to tread water at 3-2, narrowly escaping against three AFC South opponents. The battle between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Field. The game will be broadcasted on NBC.

The  Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has been using the past two weeks to recover from his shoulder injury and, it’s possible he could be back at full strength against the Patriots. Regardless of how the Pats have dominated the Colts in four meetings over the past three seasons, a full-strength Luck gives Indianapolis a game-changer who could threaten New England’s perfect record. However if there is even the slightest bit wrong with that throwing shoulder, he can expect the Patriots to take advantage of it. Luck hasn’t done well against New England in his career. His worst moment was when he walked out of Gillette Stadium last year in the AFC Championship Game having led the offense to one score with two picks and barely 200 total yards of offense.

The New England Patriots are on a roll this season at 4-0. Quarterback Tom Brady has put up 1,387 yards and 11 TDs without a pick. The offensive numbers the Patriots have put up on the Colts since 2009 are truly impressive. Over the course of seven games, New England has averaged 40.7 points per game and 422 yards per game against the Indianapolis defense. The Patriots have done great against the colts on the ground. Last year New England rushed for seven touchdowns, including using Jonas Gray for four scores in the primetime game these two played in the regular season. Whether that means LeGarrette Blount or Dion Lewis or who else ultimately runs for 100 yards or not is to be seen. The Patriots have had someone rush for at least 148 yards in three straight games against Indy.

San Francisco 49ers face New York Giants at MetLife Stadium

San Francisco 49ers are struggling a quarter of the way through the season.

The San Francisco 49ers (1-3)  take to the road  in Week 5 as they face the New York Giants (2-2). The game between the the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on NBC.

The San Francisco 49ers is on a three game losing streak and have a lackluster offense that continues to be a problem for head coach Jim Tomsula. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been under scrutiny following his last three problematic performances. He needs to have a strong game to convince the media that he is much better than he has played so far this season. The 49ers, with Kaepernick and running back Carlos Hyde want to run it. Kaepernick is off to a dreadful start as a passer with two touchdowns and five interceptions. Kaepernick led the 49ers in rushing with 57 yards in last week’s 17-3 loss to the Packers. Hyde was limited to just 20 yards. The 49ers defense has been good and will look for a strong performance like they had against the Packers a week ago. The 49ers have a chance to prove to the NFL world they are better than the team seen over the previous three weeks.

The New York Giants are coming off of a great win against the Buffalo Bills. Eli Manning was one of the three quarterbacks coming into Week 4 without an interception until the fourth quarter last week. The Giants have seven touchdown passes and just two rushing touchdowns so far. That’s why wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is going to be one of Eli Manning’s favorite to score the first touchdown on Sunday night. Giants running backs Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams have one rushing touchdown each this season. Andre Williams seems to be the more explosive back capable of making big time plays.  The Giants defense is ranked Number 1 against the run with a league low of 69.8 yards per game allowed.  The Giants have the worst pass defense in the NFL at 316.2 yards per game allowed. They have given up over 350 passing yards two times this season. It doesn’t look like the Giants have a corner who can match up with the size and strength of wide receiver Anquan Boldin if the 49ers get in the red zone.

Green Bay Packers host St. Louis Rams at Lambeau Field

Packers one of six remaining unbeaten teams in NFL

After pulling one of the biggest upsets of the season last week against the Arizona Cardinals, the St. Louis Rams are trying to take care of business by going on the road to the Frozen Tundra against the unbeaten Packers. The Packers are 4-0 for the first time since they started the 2011 season at 13-0. The game between the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Rams is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. ET at Lambeau Field. The game will be broadcast on FOX.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers has been outstanding so far. He has thrown for 995 yards with 11 TDs and no interceptions for his first four games.  He is doing this great work without wide receiver Jordy Nelson and wide receiver Randall Cobb still has a banged up arm. The Packers also has a good ground game to provide them a good offensive balance with Eddie Lacy and James Starks as a suitable replacement. One weakness may be the offensive line. Rodgers has to scramble quite often to get himself out of trouble. Last week against the 49ers, Rogers didn’t look quite as sharp as the previous games he played.

The St. Louis Rams rookie running back Todd Gurley didn’t do much for three quarters against Arizona last week, but he broke loose for over 100 yards in the fourth quarter. If Gurley has another good day there will less pressure for quarterback Nick Foles to work the ball down the field. This would also balance the attack so wide receivers like Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin could start making big time plays. Last week’s win over Arizona marked the third time in its last 12 games which the Rams have pulled off an upset as a seven-point underdog or greater. Beating the Packers  at home is almost impossible to do. The Packers are 7-1  in their last eight games overall, including 11 straight wins at Lambeau Field overall.

Broncos host Vikings at Mile High

Denver Broncos defense could be key to stopping Minnesota Vikings

The Denver Broncos are 3-0 thus far this season but have not played their best looking games. Being undefeated at this stage of the season is generally a good thing for getting into the postseason. As for the Minnesota Vikings, they bring their new offense look to Mile High for the first time with their quarterback Teddy Bridgewater at the lead. The game between the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2015, at 4:25 p.m. ET in Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The game will be broadcast on FOX.

The Minnesota Vikings have bounced back nicely after starting the season with a  20-3 loss on the road against the San Francisco 49ers. Since that loss, Minnesota has won two straight games by double digits, defeating Detroit 26-16 and San Diego 31-14. Minnesota’s defense is holding opposing teams to 16.7 points per game. The Vikings defense has played three really good games thus far in 2015, and it is one of the more underrated in the league. The Vikings offense has been working nicely under Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson. If Adrian Peterson gets the ball 20-25 times in this game, Minnesota has a shot at the upset.

The Denver Broncos are off to a 3-0 start despite not having the same firepower they once had with Peyton Manning. One thing that Peyton Manning will forever have is one of the best minds in the game for a quarterback. The defense has been the star of the show, allowing only 16.3 points per game and coming up with some huge plays to help lead the Broncos to victory.  Denver is great at rushing the passer which creates opportunities for turnovers, and Von Miller and Demarcus Ware can still get after any quarterback in the league. Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater might be  mobile, but he also hasn’t seen a pass rush like this so far. The Broncos run defense must stop Adrian Peterson to take control of the game.

Ravens take on Pittsburgh Steelers this Thursday

Baltimore Ravens face Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Michael Vick are preparing for a Thursday night game against the Ravens after starting quarterback after Ben Roethlisberger went down with a knee injury against the St Louis Rams. The Ravens are 0-3 and they’re coming off a physical game and just three days of practice before taking off for Pittsburgh. The Ravens know when they face Pittsburgh, it will be a hard fought game with both teams banged up after a short week. The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football, October 1 kick off time at 8:30 PM ET, at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, Pa. The game will be broadcast on CBS and the NFL Network.

For the Steelers quarterback Michael Vick, the question is what he will be able to bring to the table. Vick looked a little lost running his offense against the Rams in his relief roll last weekend. So though there is a big question about Michael Vick we can focus on a lot of what we do know. We know Le’Veon Bell is going to get the ball handed off to him quite a bit .  Bell is still fresher than most having served his two game suspension to start off the year. Also, Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams led the AFC in rushing through the first two weeks. Pittsburgh passing game should have some big moments happen. Pittsburgh has one of NFL’s most consistent receivers in Antonio Brown which makes a great asset if you’re the quarterback.

The Baltimore Ravens finally woke up from their offensive last week in Cincinnati in the second half, but we still have some  issues to work out. Running back for the Baltimore Ravens, Justin Forsett has 39 carries for 124 yards this season. Forsett needs a lot more yards to keep up with last years pace. Ravens quarterback  Joe Flacco has thrown the ball for 126 times in three games, which is far too many and isn’t working out for the Ravens. The Ravens need to work out a more balanced offense so they don’t fall behind and have to fight back like they had to do against Cincinnati last week. Teams just don’t come back from big deficits in this AFC North rivalry.

St. Louis Rams Host the Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers will face Rams 30th ranked rush defense

The game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and St. Louis Rams will take place Sunday, September 27, 2015, at 1 p.m. ET at the Edward Jones Dome. The game will be broadcasted on CBS. The St. Louis Rams opened the season with a big upset 34-31 win over Seattle at home in Week 1. The Rams followed up their big win with a 24-10 loss at Washington in Week 2. This creates a question about what to expect from this team going forward and into its Week 3 matchup with the Steelers.

The Steelers crushed San Francisco’s secondary in last weeks game, with Ben Roethlisberger passing for 369 yards and three touchdowns without any pressure. Roethlisberger passed to Antonio Brown nine times for 195 yards but the Steelers could be facing a more difficult time with the Rams front line. However, the Steelers are getting their top rusher Le’Veon Bell back in the lineup after his two game suspension. DeAngelo Williams filled in nicely while Bell sat out with 204 yards and three touchdowns.  Bell totaled 1,361 yards and eight scores on the ground last season. Both  Bell and Williams should be difficult for the Rams defense that has allowed 400 rushing yards in their first two games.

Pittsburgh’s offense can be even more explosive now that it gets Bell back in the lineup. They’ll get a test from the Rams front, but there will be holes for Bell to exploit. If the running game works for the Steelers, watch for Ben to go deep. The Rams offense reverted back to a form we are familiar with in its loss. The Steelers defense looked improved in shutting down the 49ers and could have a similar day against the Rams. The St Louis Rams offense is ranked 31st in the NFL in total offense after two games. Against Washington on Sunday, the Rams offense gained just 213 yards.

New England Patriots host the Jacksonville Jaguars

Can the Jacksonville Jaguars keep up with Patriots’ offense?

The Patriots are on a roll after crushing the Bills last week and are two touchdown favorites over the Jaguars this weekend. The Patriots have beat the Jaguars 9 of 10 times and haven’t lost to them since 1999. The New England Patriots will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at 1 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on CBS.

Despite the passing game of the Patriots not being perfect last week against the Bills, the offense still put up huge numbers against a good defense. Brady completed 38 of 59 passes for 466 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions against Buffalo last week. Julian Edelman caught 11 passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Rob Gronkowski caught 6 passes for 113 yards. Dion Lewis caught 6 passes for 98 yards and Aaron Dobson had 7 receptions for 87 yards. The Patriots passing game is diverse and it is hard to stop it with so many good receivers.

The Patriots defense does have some holes, but there just aren’t enough for the Jaguars to take advantage of. The Jacksonville Jaguars is in a rebuild mode and coach Gus Bradley is doing a good job but it will take time to play up to the Patriots level. The Jaguars are coming off one of their better efforts in recent seasons beating the Miami Dolphins 23-20 last week. Jacksonville scored in the first 6 minutes of the game and never trailed after that. They scored the game winning field goal during the last 2 minutes of the game. The Jaguars rushed for 123 yard with zero turnovers.
