New England Patriots at Denver Broncos – AFC Championship Game

Patriots-BroncosNew England Patriots travel to Denver Broncos for AFC Championship game

The New England Patriots advanced to their fifth straight AFC championship game. This will be the second time the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos will meet this season. The AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos will be played on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at 3:05 p.m. ET at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The matchup will be televised on CBS.

The Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been struggling this year with just nine touchdown passes against 17 interceptions as he plays through a foot injury. He is completing just 59.8 percent of his throws and showing little arm strength. The Patriots can keep everything in front of them knowing that Manning can’t throw the ball 40 yards down the field like the good old days. The Broncos have the best defense in the NFL and that could be an issue for the undersized New England receivers who tend to have trouble getting off of the line of scrimmage. The Broncos running backs are good and Anderson rushed 15 times for 72 yards and Hillman 16 times for 38 yards last Sunday. Anderson had a huge day in the first Patriots-Broncos matchup , rushing 15 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

The New England Patriots traveled to Denver on Nov. 29 this season and lost, 30-24 in overtime in a Sunday Night Football game. The Patriots quarterback Tom Brady needs to get the ball out of his hands quickly for the AFC Championship game. If he’s forced to stand in the pocket for more than two seconds, outside linebacker Demarcus Ware and his mates are sure to be right on his back. Sebastian Vollmer might be back, but the offensive line is still awfully patchwork at the moment. Without even trying the ground game, New England is going to be reliant on its passing attack  to win this one. Now that wide receivers Edelman and Amendola are back, and Gronk is back, the Patriots will likely try to spread out the defense with four and five wide, and also use the quick pass for the run game to neutralize the Broncos’ pass rush.

Cincinnati Bengals at Denver Broncos, Week 16

Denver+Broncos+v+Cincinnati+BengalsThe Bengals and Broncos are battling for a bye in the playoffs

The (11-3) Cincinnati Bengals and (10-4) Denver Broncos are fighting for a first round bye in the playoffs. A victory for the Bengals would assure them of no worse than the #2 seed in the playoffs. While a victory for the Broncos would give them the tiebreaker over the Bengals for that first round bye, and likely push the Bengals into the #3 seed vs #6 seed Wild Card game. The game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos is scheduled for Monday, December 28, 2015 at 8:25 p.m. ET at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The matchup will be broadcast on ESPN.

The Denver Broncos offense are 18th in the league in rushing and average just under 100 yards per game as a team. Hillman is the team’s leading rusher with 711 yards. He has three 100-yard games on the season but hasn’t been very effective of late, averaging just 3.1 yards per carry on 59 carries  with 183 yards over his last four games. Broncos back-up quarterback Brock Osweiler has his moments but has a shoulder problem and hasn’t been totally effective. Demaryius Thomas remains the No. 1 receiving threat for the Broncos, even with the change to Osweiler at quarterback, but Sanders is averaging more yards per catch than Thomas since the change. Sanders remains a big-play threat, with 10 plays of 20 yards or more. The Broncos are still the No. 1 defense in the NFL, allowing just 279.9 total yards per game.

The Cincinnati Bengals will likely be starting back-up quarterback AJ McCarron again this week. McCarron has done a good job and it helps that he has targets like A.J. Green, Marvin Jones, and Mohamed Sanu to throw the ball to. A.J. Green is still one of the best in the league at locating the ball in the air and going and getting it. Running back Jeremy Hill has 635 yards and running back Giovani Bernard has 680 yards, but Hill is the scorer as he has 10 touchdowns compared to two for Bernard. The Bengals are a team that knows how to rush the passer, as they have four players with five or more sacks and two in double digits. The Bengals have 19 interceptions as a team with Reggie Nelson leading the pack with eight.

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts in Week 9

Broncos-ColtsDenver Broncos on the road take on Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts (3-5) will attempt to give the Denver Broncos (7-0) their first loss and win for the eighth time in nine meetings when they meet on Sunday. The Colts upset the Broncos 24-13 on the road in the divisional playoffs last year as 9.5-point underdogs. Indianapolis came close to upsetting the unbeaten Carolina Panthers last week on the road in a 29-26 overtime loss and will get another chance to beat a team with a perfect record, only this time the Colts are at home. The matchup between the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts will take place on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at 4:25 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium. The game will be televised on CBS.

The story for the Denver Broncos is their defense.  They are producing a big number of interceptions and defensive touchdowns. The Broncos are a defensive team in 2015 boasting the top defense in the NFL. Everyone expected Manning’s production to dip given his age and HC Gary Kubiak’s system, but no one predicted such a slow start. Manning did show signs of life in Week 8 as he tore up the Green Bay defense, going 21-of-29 for 340 yards. Even though Manning went 21-of-29, he still has a wet noodle for an arm, and he isn’t that much improved after a week off.  Last week the Green Bay defense underestimated him, something that the Colts probably aren’t going to do.

The Indianapolis Colts has its own problems to worry about in its secondary. The Colts can’t get any pressure whatsoever on the quarterback, and when you can’t get in Manning’s face, eventually, he’s going to make strong throws. The Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is going to be under a ton of duress from a terrifying pass rush, and with no running game to balance this all out, trouble is clearly waiting. This does not bode well for a struggling Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.  Earlier in the week, the Colts revealed that Luck had been playing through a rib injury, which could explain his performance.   Best Sports Gambling Sites

Broncos host Packers in Undefeated Matchup

Green+Bay+Packers+v+Denver+BroncosPeyton Manning a home underdog on Sunday Night Football

The Green Bay Packers take on the Denver Broncos in an NFL showdown between undefeated teams. The Denver Broncos will be home team underdogs for just the second time since Peyton Manning arrived in Denver. The matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos is scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. ET at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The game will be broadcasted on NBC.

The Green Bay Packers offense has continued to be explosive despite losing wide receiver Jordy Nelson before the season. Green Bay has benefited from bringing back James Jones who Aaron Rodgers has gone to often early in the season.  The Packers offense seems to be vulnerable to the pass rush. They are ranked 22nd in passing attack which is largely due to a slew of injuries at wide receiver and a collapsing pocket around Rodgers. Rodgers is going to get his yards and put the Packers into a position to score. In the past with major games on the road, he had trouble finishing the drives.

Denver has relied on their defense which has played like the best defense in the country. The Broncos are stopping teams and their defense is scoring touchdowns off turnovers.  Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is going to be locked up with Randall Cobb wherever he goes. That’s going to leave Chris Harris out there to do his thing against either a rookie in Ty Montgomery or a vet in James Jones who isn’t nearly as speedy as he used to be. Either way, this is a decided advantage for Denver, even with Aaron Rodgers throwing the football. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has thrown 10 interceptions compared to seven touchdowns causing many to wonder if Manning is going to continue to struggle after their bye.

Broncos host Vikings at Mile High

Denver Broncos defense could be key to stopping Minnesota Vikings

The Denver Broncos are 3-0 thus far this season but have not played their best looking games. Being undefeated at this stage of the season is generally a good thing for getting into the postseason. As for the Minnesota Vikings, they bring their new offense look to Mile High for the first time with their quarterback Teddy Bridgewater at the lead. The game between the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2015, at 4:25 p.m. ET in Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The game will be broadcast on FOX.

The Minnesota Vikings have bounced back nicely after starting the season with a  20-3 loss on the road against the San Francisco 49ers. Since that loss, Minnesota has won two straight games by double digits, defeating Detroit 26-16 and San Diego 31-14. Minnesota’s defense is holding opposing teams to 16.7 points per game. The Vikings defense has played three really good games thus far in 2015, and it is one of the more underrated in the league. The Vikings offense has been working nicely under Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson. If Adrian Peterson gets the ball 20-25 times in this game, Minnesota has a shot at the upset.

The Denver Broncos are off to a 3-0 start despite not having the same firepower they once had with Peyton Manning. One thing that Peyton Manning will forever have is one of the best minds in the game for a quarterback. The defense has been the star of the show, allowing only 16.3 points per game and coming up with some huge plays to help lead the Broncos to victory.  Denver is great at rushing the passer which creates opportunities for turnovers, and Von Miller and Demarcus Ware can still get after any quarterback in the league. Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater might be  mobile, but he also hasn’t seen a pass rush like this so far. The Broncos run defense must stop Adrian Peterson to take control of the game.
