Chelsea FC vs. Tottenham Hotspur FC

Tottenham will be hoping that Leicester City will not claim all three points at Manchester United on Sunday. That would mean that the Spurs would still have a chance at the Premier League championship by the time it gets on the field on Monday night. If  Leicester succeeds to claim all three points then the Spurs can  focus on locking up a spot in the Champions League next year. The matchup between Chelsea and Tottenham will take place on Monday, May 2, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. ET at Stamford Bridge. The game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network.

Tottenham has overachieved this season and has held the second position on the table for quite some time. They have gotten 15 results from 17 away matches so far.  They are missing some key players for this match. A versatile defensive player, Eric Dier is out with a concussion and is unlikely to be cleared for this one. Midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is still probably a week or two away from returning from his knee injury. Midfielder Dele Alli has also been charged by the FA and is likely to be suspended for this fixture.

This year the Chelsea team is  just 5-7-5 at home and is playing uninspired ball right in the middle of the EPL table. Chelsea was definitely better against Bournemouth last weekend with a 4-1 away win. Prior to that win, the Blues lost to Manchester City 3-0, and lost 1-0 on the road at Swansea before that. Chelsea has a long list of injuries. Centre back Gary Cahill is out with the flu and still isn’t back in training as of Wednesday. Forward Loic Remy, centre backs John Terry and Kurt Zouma are all out of the fold for now. One of the best goalkeepers of his generation,  Thibaut Courtois is out serving a two match suspension against Tottenham.  Best Sports Site Blog thinks the Blues have done a nice job incorporating some of the younger members of the team in some games which were relatively meaningless. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Bertrand Traore, Kenedy and Matt Miazga, all of which are 20 years old or younger, have shown plenty of signs of improvement. We believe that the Spurs could reasonably have nothing left to play for this year themselves, and would give the edge in this match to the Blues.
